As part of the Finnish Appetizers program by Consulate General of Finland organized in collaboration with Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong (ADA) Signmark will perform live at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza on Sunday 24th January 2010 at 3 pm.
Despite Signmark was born deaf into a world where music is for the hearing, he pursued his dream and became an international hip-hop artist.
As a child, he wanted his whole family to sing Christmas carols together, so his music career started by translating lyrics for his deaf parents.
Signmark feels that the society should not treat the deaf as handicapped people, but as a linguistic minority with their own culture, community, history and heritage.
Signmark debuted and released the world’s first sing language hip-hop DVD in 2006. His album takes a stand for equality and aims to bring people together. In 2009 he became the first deaf person to ever sign a contract with a major record label.
Addition to the hip-hop performance Signmark will share his story, of how he accomplished the Mission impossible, at MaD Forum at Kwai Tsing Theatre over the weekend of 22-24 January 2010.
