History

Consulate General in Hong Kong

Finland has been present in Hong Kong in the form of a Consulate since 1976. The Consulate General was established on 1 October 1991. Before a resident Consul was placed in Hong Kong Finland was represented through an Honorary Consulate since 1929.

First Consul General appointed was Mr. Hannu UUSI-VIDENOJA 1.10.1991–31.8.1995.

Second Consul General: Mr. Asko NUMMINEN 1.9.1995–31.12.1997.

Mr. Ilkka HEISKANEN 1.1.1998–31.8.2002.

Mr. Pauli MÄKELÄ 1.9.2002–15.6.2006.

Mr. Timo RAJAKANGAS 1.9.2006–31.8.2010.

Ms. Annikki ARPONEN 1.9.2010–31.8.2014.

Mr. Jari SINKARI 1.9.2014–31.8.2018.

The current Consul General Ms. Johanna KARANKO assumed her office on 1 September 2018.
